Ernest Trigg Lawson, 84, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 4, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico to Cecil Ernest and Laura Kathleen Lawson.

Trigg was known for his outgoing personality, his sense of humor, and his devotion to his family. A graduate of Clovis High School in 1958, he had many occupations including driving a horse-drawn ice cream wagon, working as a soda jerk at Roden-Smith Pharmacy in Clovis, with his father for the Santa Fe Railroad, as a sheet metal worker at Fort Carson, Colorado, and in sales and management for various companies including the Credit Bureau, Collectrite, and Sears. In retirement he enjoyed volunteering at the church thrift shop and as Santa Claus at various churches, charities, hospitals, and for anyone else that needed an authentic embodiment of the Jolly Old Elf.

Trigg was an active member at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Clovis and later at Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and was active in the Ballut Abyad Shrine as a clown and a bagpiper.

Trigg is survived by his wife of 54 years, Delories "Dee" Lawson, daughters Laura Padgett of Edgewood, Lisa Mathews (Guy) of Irving, Texas, Sherri Craft of Edgewood, Kelli Bair (Cub) of Rio Rancho, son Eric Trigg Lawson (Suzanne) of Albuquerque, grandchildren Jeremy Waldinger, Thomas Waldinger, Matthew Craft, Tayler Villescas, Clayton Waldinger, Emily Madera, Reed Bair, Elizabeth Lawson, and nine great-grandhildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Lee Mitzelfelt (Robert) of Livingston, Texas. Trigg was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Michael Gene Lawson, and his sister Theresa Ann Bell.
