Ernest M. Jaramillo, age 90, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on June 21, 2024. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Ernest was born on January 5, 1934, to Demetrio and Lucia Jaramillo. He was one of nine children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Lucy Jaramillo; brothers Walter, Junior, Herman, and Sam; and sisters, Adeline Garcia, Emma Gonzalez, and Dolores Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, LuCinda; his sister, Rosalie Gabaldon; his daughters Lucia Mancha (Victor), Anne Harada (Carl), Judy Reitz (Mike), Tina Sanchez (Steve); and 7 grandchildren: Leslie Clark-Marouf; Victoria Clement; Aaron Mancha; Brian and Andrew Reitz; James and Michael Sanchez; and one great-grandson, Leo Clement.
Ernest was an educator who retired from the Los Lunas school system. He was an Air Traffic Controller in the USAF and was honorably discharged as a Captain.
He found joy in travel, music, and playing card games with his family and friends. Ernest left lasting impressions on those he encountered with his humor and willingness to help wherever he was needed. He belonged to the community of Holy Ghost Church, serving as President of the Parish Council and as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Ghost Church. There will be a viewing at 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona St SE, on Friday, June 28, 2024, followed by a Rosary at 11:30 am. Mass will be held at 12:00 pm. Burial will be at 1:30pm at Mount Calvery, with a reception at home.
