Ernell Harding Hermanson, age 96, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM. Ernell was born on March 18, 1921 in McGregor, ND to Helmer and Elise Hermanson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Bernice Allen Hermanson. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Hermanson and wife, Kaye of Kaneohe, HI, Gerald Hermanson and wife, Linda of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tracee (John) Wallace, Adam Hermanson, Caitlin (Charlie) Purigraski, Shane Hill and Trace (Dania) Hill; great-grandchildren, Fiona, Dominic and Ryden. He also survived by his sisters, Junelle Fox and husband, Ron of Albuquerque, Jordis (Gene) Heller of Williston, ND, and Marcella Haakenson of Tioga, ND, and many nieces and nephews.
Ernell met his love, Bernice, in California during WWII, and served in the Army. Ernell was quick to share his construction skills with family, friends and his church. He loved to fish with his brother-in-law, Ron. He cherished each of his family, treasured his friends, wrapping each in his unconditional love and his gentle humor. We mourn his passing, we will miss him dearly, and we celebrate his life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church, 7001 San Antonio Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Private interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the wheelchair mission at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church.
