Emmett O. Flowers

Emmett Flowers Jr. died on May 5, 2018, very unexpectedly. He was born in El Paso, Texas, but moved to New Mexico when he was 2 weeks old. Emmett married Ruth Garcia on December 29, 1979. They had two children, April and Brian. Emmett moved his family to Gallup in the early 1980’s to open up his first paint business. He worked in the automotive paint business until his retirement in June of 2017. He had many things planned for his retirement but His Heavenly Father had other plans. Emmett thrived on challenge and he faced life with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor.

He had a favorite song called, “A Good Man” and this sums up his life: “I wanna be the one - When all is said and done - Who lived a good life, loved a good wife - And always helped someone in trouble - On the day they lay me down - I want everyone to gather round - And say, “He was a husband, father, brother, Neighbor and a friend… He was a good man.”

Emmett was predeceased by his father Emmett Flowers Sr. and step-mother Kathy Flowers. Emmett is survived by the love of his life Ruth; his children April Eschenbrenner, Brian Flowers and daughter-in-law Kimberly Flowers; his grandchildren Luke Eschenbrenner; Kristina and Michael Flowers. Emmett is also survived by his mother Barbara Congleton; his sisters Sherry Pinnick (Scott) and Bambi Wilson (Joe); along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Emmett also leaves behind some very dear friends he considered as family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque, 330 Tijeras Ave NW.
