Emmanuel Hernandez, age 61, passed away unexpectantly after a brief struggle with a sudden illness on July 12, 2024 in Tijeras, NM. He was born in Spokane, Washington, to Beatrice and Bob Hernandez. His father was in the US Air Force, so the family moved around quite a bit. However, Emmanuel's favorite place and where he always said he was from was Alaska. He lived in Anchorage, Alaska during his late mid school and early high school years. He went to college at the University of Central Florida, where he met his wife Ginger and graduated with a BA in music and also a BS in education.
Emmanuel taught middle and high school band for over 25 years. He was an amazing band director and the kids adored him. He had a gentle, but firm presence with the kids and taught them respect, leadership and accountability. He loved teaching, but due to poor health he retired in 2007. Despite his physical limitations, he did everything he could to make the most of each day. He loved playing music, riding motor cycles, RV camping and wood working. He loved the Lord and he loved his wife.
Emmanuel is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Ginger Hernandez, his mother Beatrice, his sister Catherine, and his brother Michael. He was preceded in death by his father.
