Emma Russell

Emma Lujan Russell age 86, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on Wednesday, Febrary 26, 2025 in Albuquerque, NM.

She was born on May 8, 1938 in Las Vegas, NM to her parents Magdalena and Ismael Lujan. Emma graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1957 where she participated in high school chorus and loved to sing. She worked at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute from 1965 until 1972, when she moved to Albuquerque with her three sons: Dennis, William, and Eric. She worked at New Mexico Youth Diagnostic Development Center until her retirement in 1993.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Magdalena and Ismael Lujan. She is survived by her sons: Dennis Segura (Debra Erekson), William Segura, and Eric Segura (Cynthia Segura); her grandchildren: Kenneth Segura and Eric Charles Segura; great grandchild, Gabriel Segura; her brothers and sisters: Bertha Gallegos (Blas Duran), Jose Lujan (Vera Jo), Roy Lujan, and Ismael Lujan Jr., all of Las Vegas, NM; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Rosary services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 9:30 am also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers: Carlos Salazar, Kenneth Segura, Joseph Lujan, Jonathan Gallegos, Ronnie Gallegos, and Kenneth Segura Knoll. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be James Lujan, Blas Duran, Dean Gallegos, Theodore Gallegos, Joe Vega, Gabriel Segura, Eric Charles Segura, nieces, and nephews.
