Emma O. Perez

Emma O. Perez, age 88, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 with family by her side. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra; son, David; grandchildren; Brandon, Ali, Tyler and Diego; siblings, sister, Estela; and brother, Humberto. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Daniel in January of 2014; her parents, Manuela and Santiago Ortega and two siblings, sister, Amalia and brother, Hector. Emma was born on September 13, 1925 in Villa Victoria, Edo. de Mexico, Mexico. She dedicated her career as a Registered Nurse. While working in Mexico City, Emma cared for famous artist Frida Khalo. She came to the United States to work as a nurse in Los Angeles, before moving to Albuquerque to begin her life with her husband, Daniel. She and her husband were longtime members of First Presbyterian Church, and spent many years volunteering in church activities. Emma was a wonderful wife and devoted mother. She was very kind with everyone, but most especially with children. She will be remembered for her gentleness and wisdom. Services will be held on Friday, March 28. 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
