LUTTRELL, Emma Emma Lee Luttrell passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the age of 79. She is survived by her husband, Jim C. Luttrell, and her two sons, James Curtis (and wife Kesha) and Christopher Lee (and wife, Dawn); sister Terri Sandlin. She was grandmother to Alexis O'Neill, Madison Lee Luttrell, Jack Cade Luttrell, Jayden Cole Luttrell, James Reagan Luttrell, Vincent Roman Luttrell and Vincent Bryant Stavrowsky. Emma was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Vera Sawyer and her four brothers, Carl, Merle, Kenneth and Wayne Sawyer, as well as J.C. and Martha Luttrell and her sisters-in-law, Anita, Maxine and Patricia and many loving nieces and nephews. Emma was born at home in Merced, CA on December 29, 1935. She attended Merced schools and graduated from Fresno State College in CA in 1958. She taught elementary school in Ojai, CA and with the US Military schools in the Philippines. Emma married Jim Luttrell on July 15, 1961. She and Jim retired to Albuquerque, NM and taught at Albuquerque public schools for years. Emma was a lifelong swimmer and lifeguard, and gave swimming lessons to children at her home in Albuquerque up until the last day of her life. She loved music and was First Chair in the Merced High marching band. She had eclectic tastes - from Johnny Cash to Mozart, to Broadway musicals. Emma Lee always made a positive impact on the lives of everyone who knew her, and she will be very dearly missed. The viewing will be held on Monday, June 8 from 6 - 7:30 pm at French-Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd. in Albuquerque. The service will be held on Tuesday, June 9 from 11am - 12 pm, at Manzano Baptist Church, 12411 Linn Ave NE, Albuquerque.
