Emma Gomez

Emma Louise Quintana Gomez, age 96, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by David R. Gomez, loving husband of 47 years; son, Andy; great-grandson, Olan Thomas; brother, Joe V. Quintana; and parents, Isaac and Celia Quintana.

Survived by sons Stephen, Richard, Lawrence, and James, and their wives, several grandchildren, special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In Albuquerque, Emma graduated from St. Mary's High School, attended UNM and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado. She spent 30 years as a registered nurse in Albuquerque. She then performed pastoral care work in various parishes, and was a founding member of Birthright of Albuquerque in 1971.

Emma and David were charter members of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

There will be a Rosary at 9:30 am, followed by Mass at 10:00 am at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd NE on Friday, January 31, 2025. A Graveside service will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM at 2:00 pm.
