Emma Gonzales, age 85, beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt, spouse, sister, and mother-in-law, was called to her eternal resting place on January 3, 2025. She entered this world on November 19, 1939, in Santa Rosa, NM, born to Ramon and Erinea Marquez. She is survived by her son, Paul Gonzales; daughter-in-law, Karen Gonzales; and grandson, James Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gonzales; her son, Daniel Gonzales; her sister, Celina Marquez, and her brother, Evaristo Marquez.
Emma loved traveling with her husband, Roy. She loved meeting her family and friends for lunch and going to concerts when family members were performing. It was very important to her to take care of her family. She loved being part of the Catholic Daughters organization and loved rooting for the Denver Broncos.
Emma was proud to be one of the first female police officers in Albuquerque. And she enjoyed her work as an alcohol and substance abuse counselor.
A Rosary will be held Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, in Rio Rancho beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. The graveside ceremony will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
