Emma Armijo, 94, a lifelong Albuquerque resident, peacefully entered into Heaven on Sunday, May 16, 2021 with family by her side.
Emma was known for many things, but one word that would describe her best is inspirational. She had so much strength and determination, she never let any season of life define her. She preserved through many trials of life, never letting it change her character. She always stayed humble and gave all her praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She leaned on His strength and always said “Si Dios quiere” (God willing).
Her love for her family and those around her will never be forgotten. She raised nine children, Mary Padilla, Frances Baca (Daniel), Jerry Armijo (Irene), Ben Armijo, Betty Beall (Jim), Andrew Armijo, Eileen Romero, Annette Armijo and Roberta Gutierrez (Mario).
In addition to her children, she was also a huge influence in the lives of her 20 grandchildren, Anthony, Joann, Eric, Lynda, Jerry Lee, Renee, Joseph, Monica, Adam, Matthew, Antoinette, Crystal, Jamie, Brandon, Amber, Christyna, Aaron, Niko, Victoria, and Mariano. She also had 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Emma had an effortless way she loved her family that will always be admirable. She was always so intentional with each member of the family. She made sure to make everyone feel so special in their own way. She made sure that her home was a place that they could come to, and she would be there with open arms. It was a place of warmth and love, and let’s not forget, good food.
Not only was her love shown to her family, but she also never hesitated to extend that love to those around her. She was the neighbor down the street that everyone knew. She was the devoted parishioner that would ask you how you are doing. She was the lady at the bingo hall ready to strike up a conversation. She will be missed by many.
Emma is now in heaven with the Lord who she devoted her entire life to, and although we no longer have her here with us today, her legacy will live on forever.
On behalf of the Armijo family, we would like to thank everyone for their love and support through this time of grief. Emma’s life will be celebrated this week.
