Age 95, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 after a brief illness. She is survived by her four children, Daniel, Marjorie, Elizabeth and Dean; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, most of whom were able to share precious, loving time with her in her last hours. Born in Danbury Connecticut in 1918, Emily moved to Albuquerque to teach at Menaul School around 1940. Her 23 year career included teaching English and Reading at Albuquerque High School and other APS schools. Her heart never really left her ancestral home in Connecticut, but she deeply loved the mountains, skies and especially the many wonderful people of New Mexico. She met her husband of 51 years, Lucius E. Buck, while teaching at Menaul. They got married in Connecticut, returned to New Mexico and raised their family in the close communities of Menaul School and First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, where she was a member for over 70 years. Emily had a radiant personality and was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. The family thanks the staffs of Casa de Palomas and AmberCare Hospice for all the loving care given Emily. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at FRENCH - University. A memorial service will be held Friday August 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust St. NE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the Emily's name to Menaul School or the charity of your choice.
