Elwin E. Chestor (Chet) passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
Born on the western slopes of Colorado in 1925, he spent his youth in Redvale, Norwood, Fort Collins and Denver. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1944 and traveled around the US before taking a job with Western Electric in El Paso where he met Ruth Lamar. They married in November of 1947 and soon moved to Albuquerque. Chet joined Sandia Labs in 1948 and retired from there after 35 years.
He and Ruth were long time members of Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed scouting, hunting, fishing, camping, RV`ing and photography and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Lamar Chestor.
Elwin is survived by his son, Robert Chestor and wife Debbie of Albuquerque; daughter, Kathy Cummings and husband Mike of Sandia Park and daughter Dorothy Rose and husband Dan of Belen. Elwin also has seven grandchildren, Michael Cummings, Megan LeBeouf, Rob Chestor, Connor Chestor, Danielle Rose, Stephen Rose and Jennifer Rose; as well as seven great grandchildren.
He was an incredibly intelligent, capable and kindhearted man and will be greatly missed.
