DAY, ELSIE MAEOur dear sweet mother went to her Lord on October 16, 2012. She had a remarkable joy of life, smiling through the pain she endured for the last several years. It was she who offered comfort to Byron Day, her beloved husband of 57 years, and to her five children. Mom was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 17, 1934. Raised in an orphanage, she met the man of her dreams and married him when she was 20. As an Air Force family, they moved to locations around the world, retiring from the military in Albuquerque in 1970. She spent her time raising her children and teaching them how to love, planting and tending roses, league bowling, quilting, and studying the Bible. She had a passion for things that sparkled and at 78 years of age she made her funeral pre-arrangements wearing a rhinestone studded bright pink baseball cap with matching shiny jacket. Mom is survived by husband, Byron; children, Angie Bussell and husband, John, Sharon Bremner and husband, Don, Norman Day and wife, Diane, Allen Day and wife, Arlene and Ronald Day; grandchildren, Adam Bussell, Thomas Bussell, Michelle Day, Jennipher Day, Sarah Day, Chelsea Day and Daniel Bremner; and sister, Beulah Armetta. Services will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas NE, with a reception to follow.
