Dabney, Eloise Conrad Smith Eloise Conrad Smith Dabney was born January 5, 1949 to the union of Conrad A. Smith and Emily Onezine, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. On July 18, 2015 at approximately 10:00 a.m., God had a need to call His faithful servant Eloise Dabney to meet Him to receive her well-deserved wings. He spoke to her and said, "Well done my good and faithful servant. You fought a good fight and you ran your race. It's now time to rest." Eloise Dabney attended numerous Elementary, Grade and High Schools; she received a General Education Diploma from George W. Carver, Sr. High. Eloise united in marriage to James Dabney Sr. in 1970. She went on to study and graduated with a Baccalaureate and Masters from University of New Orleans in 1983. After graduation she became employed as a full-time educator with the New Orleans Public School Board for nearly 10 years. She later moved to New Mexico and continued her career in education. She taught at Lowell Elementary for nearly twenty years before falling ill and forced into retirement. In addition, she enrolled at the University of New Mexico where she earned a Doctorate in Education. At an early age Eloise was baptized and accepted God into her life as her Lord and Savior. Eloise loved the Lord with all her heart and always praised Him first. She was dedicated to her Church, Pastor, Family and Friends. Eloise continued faithfully serving the Lord singing in the Choir. Her favorite hymn was "They that wait upon the Lord". She also was a committed member of her church Saturday's outreach ministry, at Mountain Springs Fellowship Baptist Eloise is preceded in death by her father; mother; son, Gerod Dabney; four sisters, Glenda Jacobs( Jules Jacobs), Gail Cotton (Vincent Cotton), Mercedes Brewer, Elaine (last name unknown); and one brother, Joseph Howard (Rose Howard). Eloise is survived by beloved husband, James Dabney, Sr.; devoted father to two sons, James, Jr. of Dallas TX and Justin Dabney of Albuquerque; and two daughters, Debbie Dabney Robbins (Paul Robbins, Sr.) of New Orleans, LA and Jerrilyn Dabney of New Orleans, LA. Eloise is further survived by siblings, Joyce A. Smith, Emily Goings, Brenda White, Norman Onezine, and Joseph Onezine. Eloise's family is extended by a second marriage by her father, Conrad, Sr. to Josephine Davis, that union produced brothers, Conrad Smith, Jr. (Belinda), Darren Smith (Glenda) and Benjamin Author Smith. Eloise leaves to cherish her precious fond memories behind 11 grandchildren, Megan, Paul, Jr., Erica, Duane, Damon, Malcolm, Marquis, Cierra, Vanessa, Antia, Kayla; 8 great-grandchildren; with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; one long lifetime friend, Julia Smith; and other friend's. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, 1:00 p.m., at Mountain Springs Fellowship Baptist Church, 10110 Constitution Ave NE.
