Eloisa Lucero, age 100, beloved mother, grandmother, and great – grandmother, stepped into Everlasting Glory on Friday, January 3, 2020. She entered this world on Sunday, December 21, 1919 in Sanderson, Texas, born to Modesto and Guadalupe Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her devoted, loving husband of 63 years, Antonio B. Lucero, and son, Antonio, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Padilla (Carlos, deceased); her sons, Arthur (Adela), Eduardo (JoAnn), and Richard Lucero; half-sister, Santa Jeffers (Chester); her grandchildren, Zachary and Anthony Romero; Carlos Baca and Maria Padilla; and others listed below, were her source of joy along with her great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, and Alexis Lucero, Christopher Jr. and Michael Lucero, Sophia and Ezequiel Lucero, Zacary, Jr. and Lucas Romero, Jordan and Colton Romero, Carlos, Jr. and Maya Baca, and Lluvia and Carlos Padilla. A resident of Albuquerque since the 1950s, Eloisa worked for Judge Waldo Rodgers in her early years and later for the Barton Darrow family with whom she enjoyed the antics of their three children especially Allen who learned Spanish at her knee. Through her storied life, Eloisa illuminated the inspiring grace within the crucible of challenge. Drawing on her steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus, she overcame many heath issues and faced life with an oak-steady stoicism that accepted all seasons of strife and security and continued forward no matter the battle, no matter the odds. For her family she was the quintessential homemaker, mother, and wife. She enjoyed piano playing, embroidery and crocheting, creating quilts, gardening, collecting antique figurines and furniture, collecting prints of classic painters such as Renoir and Monet, reading Agatha Christe novels, watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team and The Lawrence Welk Show. Her feats in the kitchen are proverbial. Her enchiladas, tacos, chile con carne, Turkey stuffing, shrimp creole, pumpkin and minced meat empanadas, and beef stew were mouth-watering delights. She could also bake a carrot pudding specialty in a coffee can, and her smoked brisket was legendary for its juicy texture and rich flavor fit for royalty; And as she reached her 100th year of life, we celebrated her indelible meaning in our lives and her legacy of courage, elegance, and goodness. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 6:30 p.m. at FRENCH- University. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd NW, 87106. Graveside services will follow at Mt.
