Elmer Hugo Miller, 85 of Peralta, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 14, 1929 in Zap, ND to Samuel, Sr. and Louisa (Harsch) Miller. He grew up in North Dakota and served in the US Army from 1951 - 1959 during the Korean War. After his military service, he met and married Elsie Tafoya in Albuquerque on August 20, 1960. He earned a Bachelor's Science in Business Administration from St. Joseph's College in Albuquerque. He later went to work for the IRS; the US Post Office in Albuquerque (and also on the mail train) and mainly as a Bank Examiner for the FDIC until his retirement. He was an avid reader; was a master of words and the language; was a hunter and fisherman and loved the great outdoors. Elmer is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Elsie of Peralta; daughters, Pam Thayer of Michigan, Karen Miller Montoya and husband, Jeff of Bernalillo and Shairy Miller of Colorado; grandchildren, Amber Dawn Elliot, Adrienne Love and husband, Jay, Ruby Miller, Dillonbob Montoya; and great granddaughter, Paige Love; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Sam, Jr., Ella Onstatt, Jean Boussard, Emil, Leo, Gilbert and Malvin. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015, 11:30 a.m., at FRENCH - University. Inurnment with military honors provided by the United States Army will follow at 2:15 p.m., also on Friday, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe, St., Santa Fe.
