Elmer J. "Bud" Bible

On Saturday, August 23, 2014, our beloved Elmer J. Bible Jr., known as "Bud" by his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home. Gilbert Sierra, his partner of 31 years, was at his bedside. Bud was born in Knoxville, TN in 1936. In 1970, he came to New Mexico on vacation and decided to stay when he fell in love with "The Land of Enchantment." Employed by Presbyterian Hospital, he worked in various nursing positions including Hospital Supervisor. Bud retired from Presbyterian Hospital in 1999. He enjoyed his retirement and kept busy with his love of crocheting, quilting and gardening. He won numerous New Mexico State Fair ribbons in both quilting and crocheting. Bud also enjoyed traveling around the U.S., Europe and Mexico. He is survived by his Partner in Marriage, Gilbert R. Sierra; his niece Risa Heussner and her husband Steve; his nephew, Gregory Smith; his great niece, Kimberly, and great nephew, Eric Heussner; a cousin, Sandy Smith; his extended family and many friends. Bud was preceded in death by his father, Elmer J. Bible Sr.; his mother, Ruth Edens Bible; his sister, Louise Smith, and brother-in-law, Richard Leon Smith. Friends and family are invited to a Visitation on Monday, September 1, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at FRENCH - University. A final viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at FRENCH -University, with a Graveside Service to follow at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of their choice.
