Ellen Faye (Greenfield) Hammons, age 82, cherished wife and wonderful mother, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian & Veda Greenfield, and her brothers Lucian Jr, Cliff, and Jack. Ellen was known for her beautiful smile, fun-loving heart, and gentle sense of humor. She was one of a kind, and a blessing to all she met. Most of her career was spent at the Cummins Grocery Store in Capitan, NM. She also reigned as First Lady of Capitan while husband Sam served as mayor. Ellen truly loved people, and she touched many lives.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Hammons, her daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Hap Richardson, granddaughter Katy; Beverly and Skip Litt, grandsons Myles and Asher. She is also survived by her sister Pat Lamb, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on July 28, 2017, 11:00 AM, at the Capitan United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capitan United Methodist Church, 228 W 3rd St, Capitan, NM 88316.
