Elizabeth Reid Smith Wilson (aka Liz or Tommie), age 94 of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2016. She was predeceased by her loving husbands, Richard T. Smith (1966) and Archer M. Wilson (1999) and step-daughter Joan Wilson Witsil (2014).
Liz is survived by daughter, Shirley Smith-Kerns (Douglas) of Osprey, FL; a son Larry T. Smith (Alice) of Scottsdale, AZ; a son-in-law Jerold Witsil of Weekie Wachee, FL; six grandchildren, Daniel Kerns, Deborah Kerns-Tunnell (Greg), Jason Smith (Joy), Paige Smith, Michael Witsil (Sonya), Melissa Witsil; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Kerns, Desiree Tunnell, Reid Tunnell, Akira Smith and Finn Smith; as well as two brothers, Larry and Jim Reid and many family and friends.
Liz enjoyed a long career with the Department of the Army and retired to her home in Virginia. In 1978 Liz and Arch moved to Albuquerque where they both were involved with the Albuquerque Chapter of NARFE. Liz believed in living life to the fullest and with Arch spent a year travelling around the world. Boating on the Chesapeake Bay with family and friends, dancing, cheering on the Washington Redskins at football games, bowling and her involvement with Albquerque Chapter of Engineer Wives were among her many favorites.
Services will be held Sunday, May 15, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with Rev. William J. Lock officiating. Private entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of NM, www.alz.org/newmexico. or High Desert Hospice, 5801 Osuna Rd, A107, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
