Elizabeth Ann Stone

July 14, 1952 — July 15, 2017

Elizabeth Ann Stone “Ann”, 65, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was called home to Heaven unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on July 15, 2017. She entered this world on July 14, 1952 in Las Vegas, NM, born to Billy Ray Miller and Loretta Miller.

She is preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Miller; her father-in-law, Walter Albert, and her mother-in-law, Ethel Joyce Stone. She is survived by her spouse of 46 years, Terry L. Stone; her daughter, Lacie Bruner; son-in-law, Doug Bruner; sons, James Stone and David Stone; granddaughters, Larissa Stone and Amber Stone; grandson, Jacob Wilson; granddaughter, Mara Stone; grandson, Terry M. Stone; step-grandson, Kinighton Bruner; brother-in-law, Walt Stone; sister-in-law, Shirley Stone;  her nephew and niece, Jim and Jennifer Magee and their children; her nephew and niece, Bill and Deborah Stone, and many, many other cousins as well as her two pups who were like her babies: Hermione and Mer Mer.

Ann went to Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyoming and graduated in 1971. She married her high-school sweetheart, Terry L. Stone, on July 23, 1971. Over the next nine years, they welcomed three children into their home after suffering several miscarriages.

Her husband and children remember her as a kind, gentle, patient, protective, giving wife and mother. She always encouraged them to pursue their goals and to never give up on those goals. She was a very protective wife, mother and grandmother who would fight to protect her husband, children and grandchildren.

Ann was also a strong and committed Christian. She loved her Lord and Savior and was very committed to Him. She would praise and worship Him daily. She was a member of Covenant Christian Church in Rio Rancho, NM.

Ann was accomplished in accounting and finances and worked for several car dealers. She loved math and numbers, which she always attributed to her dad. She later ran an in-home daycare service. Many of the children called her “Mommy Ann,” which she loved to hear.

She was also a dedicated substitute teacher for the Rio Rancho Public School District for many years. Before she was a substitute teacher, she volunteered at the schools. She mainly taught at Lincoln Middle School and Cleveland High School. At the end of the 2017 school year, she received the Substitute Teacher of the Year award for all Rio Rancho High Schools.

She loved Disney animated movies and could often be seen watching them with or without children present. She also loved to watch Harry Potter Movies. She enjoyed the Balloon Fiesta, growing plants with her amazing green thumb, sewing, quilting and pretty much any kind of craft she could come up with.

Throughout Ann and Terry’s 46 years of marriage, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but their love and commitment for each other never faltered. They still called each other by the pet names they gave each other in high school. Their love and commitment to each other is an inspiration to their children, grandchildren, friends and family.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside. The family would like to thank Ann’s friends and family for all of their support during this difficult time.
