Elizabeth Walker McMullan, age 95, passed away on October 19, 2014. Betty was born September 13, 1919 in La Junta, Colorado to Gertrude McVay Walker and William Walton Walker. She had a long and wonderful life, and was blessed by a marriage to John J. McMullan of Albuquerque (deceased in 2005). She was a proud mother and is survived by four sons, Michael and wife, Jill, (Albuquerque), Tom and wife, Julie, (San Francisco), Kevin and wife, Marsha, and Pat and wife, Lisa (all of Albuquerque). She was grandmother to grandchild, Sean, and wife, Elizabeth, (Albuquerque) and three great-grandchildren Kevin, Michael, and Taylor; grandchildren Matthew and wife, Jennifer (Atlanta); David and wife, Elisabeth (Albuquerque); Maren (Chicago), Bryn (San Francisco), Molly (Boston), Charles Mowery (Hawaii) and Dillon Mowery (Albuquerque), Robert Lane (Billings, MT) and Debbie Winter and husband, Greg Winter (Rio Rancho), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. As a daughter of an employee working for the Santa Fe Railroad, Betty grew up during the Great Depression and lived in La Junta, Winslow, AZ, Slayton, TX, Clovis, NM and the Armijo area of Albuquerque. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1937. Betty was voted "Miss A.H.S." that year. She worked at the phone company, and matriculated to the University of New Mexico, where she met her man, the love of her life, John McMullan, whom she married November 28, 1942 in San Antonio, TX. They were married 63 years. Betty worked continually as a full-time mom, who was always there for her children and husband. Betty can be seen in the family movies always chasing down a son who went outside without a sweater or jacket. She also loved her volunteer work with the St. Joseph's Hospital Thrift Shop, the Casa Angelica Auxiliary, her time with the Junior League of Albuquerque, and Albuquerque High School class reunions. She loved to go to Lobo basketball games and to garden. She traveled the United States and parts of Europe with her husband, but her favorite vacation was the annual trip to Almont, Colorado to watch her husband and sons fish the Taylor and East Rivers. The McMullan family wishes to thank all of the caregivers involved with her life the past four and one-half years, but especially to Katie Battey, her caregiver for the past 21 months. Katie extended her life with loving care. A rosary will be recited for Betty on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 7 p.m. at FRENCH - University.
