Elizabeth Rose McCorkle, age 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died unexpectedly Monday, March 24, 2025. She was born on May 27, 1958, in Okinawa, Japan to the late Clausell and Clara Bow McCorkle. As the second child to their loving union, she was a beloved sister to Timothy McCorkle, Michael McCorkle, and Deborah McCorkle Crespo.
As a child, Liz’s life was shaped by her family’s military travels, moving from Okinawa to New Jersey to Turkey and then Albuquerque, New Mexico. Liz was baptized at a young age and grew up attending the Kirtland Air Force Base Chapel, where she was a faithful member of the Bell Choir and the Base Chapel Full Choir, and she also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the chapel for many years.
Liz graduated from Highland High School in 1976. She continued her education at the University of New Mexico, where she majored in Business Administration. Liz enjoyed a successful career in business management, working on Kirtland Air Force Base as a general contractor for over 30 years, until her retirement.
After retiring, Liz devoted herself to her faith and family members. She was a committed and faithful attendee of Grant Chapel AME Church, where she was known for her kindness, positivity, commitment, and strong love for the Lord.
Liz found joy spending time with her loved ones, especially during visits home with her family, celebrating the holidays, and preparing Sunday dinners with her mom. She is often known for her thoughtful and generous spirit. Liz had a talent for giving gifts that were not only beautifully wrapped, but also truly meaningful, often including a special token of some kind—like a charming coin box—that made each gift even more memorable. She will be remembered for her sweet nature, gentle heart, and unwavering faith. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community.
Liz will be lovingly remembered by her brother Timothy McCorkle, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her sister Deborah McCorkle Crespo, of Melbourne, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Michael McCorkle. She also leaves behind a host of extended family, including cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends, all of whom will continue to celebrate her life and legacy.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her
