Elizabeth (Betty) Kimmell, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on August 3rd, 2022. Elizabeth was a devoted wife to her husband of 58 years, Arthur Kimmell. She was a loving mother to three daughters; Paulette Moore, Sylvia Lorraine Kimmell, and Cherie Gilsdorf (Steve); grandmother to Chandra Breidenbach (Mike), Brandon Moore, Jocelyn Arnold (Ryan), and Richelle Gwinn (Jonathan); great grandmother to Grayce Breidenbach, Ethan Jack Arnold, and Cody Arnold.
Elizabeth acquired her high school diploma attending night school at Albuquerque H.S. She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and a Master of Fine Arts in Education from the University Of New Mexico. She taught Art at John Adams Middle School in Albuquerque from 1968 until she retired in 1998. There she enjoyed many friendships with her fellow staff members and loved her students. Even after retiring from teaching, she never stopped sharing her love of art with her family, often giving lessons, and encouraging creativity, in her beautiful backyard garden.
As an accomplished artist in watercolor and ceramics, she exhibited works at the New Mexico Art League Gallery in Old Town, as well as; SW Ecclesiastical Arts and Crafts show and the Nor Este Art Association.
In retirement, Elizabeth volunteered at the Department of Senior Affairs and All faiths Receiving Home. She and Arthur were founding members of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Kimmell; her mother Elizabeth Lane and father Homer Lane; stepsisters Ruth Atterbury, Rose Sweeney, and Vern Lane; stepbrother Homer Lane Jr.
The family is so thankful for the loving care she received in her home by Michelle Adnan, Connie Tweeten and others that came alongside. They are also grateful for the care given by the exceptional staff at the Beehive Corona, House B.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. N.E. on Friday August 19th at 9:30 AM. A reception will follow, in the fellowship hall of Washed By The Word Church 4228 Carlisle Blvd N.E.
