Elizabeth Hansen

Elizabeth Suzanne Hansen, age 102, a longtime resident of Manzano del Sol, passed away July 29, 2024 at the VA Medical Center. Elizabeth served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, she became a homemaker. She was very smart and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles until her eyesight failed.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, who was lost in the Pacific Theater, and by her second husband, Henrik Hansen, who died in 2010. "Hank" was a career officer in the U.S. Air Force, and they moved frequently during more than 60 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by a son, Allen, whom she lost in 1976. She is survived by a brother, William Layburn; two daughters, Suzanne Mauck and Caroline Donnelly; grandsons, Ben and Randy Mauck; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She also leaves many cherished friends and the La Vita Bella aides who were a great comfort to her in her final days. A Visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Monday, August 5, at 10 a.m., at FRENCH-Lomas, with a Graveside Service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
