Kathy Espinosa-McLendon

After a long battle with Alzheimer's, Kathy went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2025. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bill McLendon, Retired MSgt. USAF, of Albuquerque; daughters, Cynthia Gallegos of Albuquerque and Roberta Hauck (and husband Patrick Tom "PT", Retired Col USAF) of Huntsville, Alabama, son, Richard Bell of Albuquerque, and two step sons, Richard Mclendon of Albuquerque and Jim Mclendon of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Kathy had nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins (including the Ortiz boys who she grew up and thought of as brothers, Donny, Jerry and wife, Terry, Adrian and wife, Jerrie, and Larry and wife, Melba.) 

Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Eligio and Eliza Garcia of Santa Fe; her father, Ross Espinosa of Espanola; her mother, Carmen Sanchez of Albuquerque; and sisters: Yvonne Espinosa and Debby Salazar; and brother, Donald Espinosa.

Kathy loved life, children/babies and meeting/talking to people. She was an avid sports fan of NY Yankees and San Francisco 49ers. She was a gifted quilter and talented at crochet and was generous in sharing her masterpieces.

Kathy always made new friends wherever she went. Her greatest enjoyment was Monday night Bingo with new and old friends and then having an ice cream treat.

The memories she created and the lives she touched will endure, and all who knew her are better for it. Saying she will be missed barely captures the depth of the loss she leaves.
