Elijia Sanchez, age 87, a beloved wife, mom, grandma and mamacita passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She was born October 18, 1933 in Chilili, NM. Her family moved to California for a short period of time and came back to permanently live in Albuquerque, NM.

In 1952, Elijia met her husband of 68 years and married on April 25, 1953. They settled in Albuquerque, NM and together built a loving family. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She is survived by her husband, Bonifacio Sanchez; children, Diana Garcia, Jerry (Barbara) Sanchez, Leroy Sanchez, Paul (Shelley) Sanchez, Conrad (Jon) Sanchez-Sykes and Elaine Sanchez; as well as her grandchildren, Nicolette (Chris) Garcia-Umstead, Nestor (Ashley) Garcia, Nicole (Mike) Valdivia, Celina (Ruben) Franco, Leroy (Sara) Lucero, Dominic Sanchez, Sarah (Luis) Aguirre, Dayton Sanchez, Malia Sanchez, and Jason Sanchez; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:15 a.m., St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW Albuquerque, NM. Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. (Due to COVID-19 restrictions, graveside service is only limited to immediate family).
