Elicia “Licie” Fuentes, age 26, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at UNM Hospital.
Licie was born in Albuquerque on December 2nd, 1992. She is survived by her parents, John and June Garcia and Arthur Fuentes; her siblings, Diego, Arthur, Joshlyn, Michael and Emma; her grandparents, Martha Saiz, Benny Saiz, Myra and Pat Cordova; her aunts, Carmen (Joe) Garcia, Adella (Ted) Barela, and Natalie (James) Gutierrez; many special cousins; and her boyfriend, Zach Prater. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Benji Saiz and grandfather, Art Fuentes.
Licie was born in Albuquerque and attended Holy Ghost Catholic School, graduating in 2007, where she was a blessing and gift to everyone who knew her. She graduated from Saint Pius X High School in 2011. Each day, Licie’s strength, inspiration, determination, feistiness, and love were unsurpassed as she met and faced each challenge of living with Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare connective skin disorder. Her family wishes a heartfelt thanks to all of Licie’s many caregivers for their compassionate treatment of Licie over her lifetime. She is loved deeply and will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 at FRENCH - Lomas with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Prince of Peace Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m.
Donations may be made in memory of Licie Fuentes to debra.org, the only nonprofit research and care organization that strives to find a cure for EB and provides free programs and services to those who struggle with EB.
