Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend passed away in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Eli Herrera, Sr. lived a full life of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Herrera; and siblings, JC, Marcelina, Javin, and Nora Lee.
Eli was born on June 28, 1937 to George and Juanita Herrera. At age 17, Eli enlisted in the US Navy and a few years later the US Army. Life after the military lead him to Cleveland, Ohio where he met his cherished and devoted wife, Corrine. They were married in February 1967.
After living several years in Ohio, Eli and his family moved back to the Southwest. They made their home in Denver, Colorado; Newcomb, New Mexico; Shiprock, New Mexico; and eventually retired from BIA Roads Maintenance to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1994, where he lived out the rest of his days.
Eli is survived by his wife, Corrine; his children, Eli Jr, Cassandra, Clinton and wife, Racquel, Javin and niece, Monica; grandchildren, Adrian, Juan, Channing, and Santana; Leighanne, Alyssa, and Danielle; Kaylynn; Evan; Dereck and Kaitee; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Kieron, and Kyren; Peter; Violet, Logan, and Olivia; Taylor and Tristan; Hailey, Xavier, and Benjamin; Reess and Ronald; sisters, Irene and Katherine; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 16, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at All Nations Assembly of God, 1119 Menaul Blvd., NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87107. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 following the service.
