Elena Altamirano

Elena Altamirano, born October 1, 1927, a daughter of Norberto and Rufugia Varela, began her journey to be with our Lord on September 3, 2017. She was accompanied by her family and friends while they sang her favorite hymn as she ascended unto her new home.
Elena is survived by two sisters, Lupita Sosa and Clara Diaz; her daughter, Pauline Castillo, husband Francisco; three sons, Billy Newell and wife, Vera; Art Newell; Joaquin Altamirano and wife, Nora; along with one daughter-in-law Rita Newell. Those who helped care for Elena the last few years became extended family and include (caregivers) Daniela Grace-Stone; Yadira Aremndariz; Deicy Perez, Rebecca Lopez and Amanda Lopez.
Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin Altamirano; sons, Mike and David Newell; brothers Lupe, Tito Varela; and sister, Aurora Ruiz.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday September 7, 2017, 6:30 p.m. the FRENCH – Lomas location.
