Eleanor Gaynor Kinzer

d. August 26, 2017

Eleanor Gaynor Kinzer, 87, our beloved mother, grandma and "GG", left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on August 26, 2017.  She was so loved and cherished by her family and friends... "GG" will be sorely missed!

Eleanor is survived by her son, John D. Kinzer (Marcie), of Albuquerque; daughter, Mary Kinzer, of Clancy, Montana;  daughter-in-law, Priscilla Kinzer; grandchildren, Phillip Kinzer Johnson (Michelle), Virginia Rogness (Dylan), Cole Johnson, Victor Johnson, John Caleb Kinzer (Michelle), Kristen Kinzer, David Nathan Kinzer (Arielei), Faith Kinzer;  nine great-grandchildren; niece, Marcia Newhouse Davis (Bryn), of Las Cruces; and nephew, Dan Newhouse (Helen), of Los Alamos.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Inez; husband, Lowry G. Kinzer; and son, David.

Eleanor was the first and only child born to Inez and Donald Gaynor, on June 16th, 1930, in San Antonio Texas.  She attended a Catholic school, Ursuline Academy, in San Antonio, Texas and graduated Summa Cum Laude.  She received a scholarship to attend the University of New Mexico and became a proud member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.  Eleanor graduated with a bachelors degree in Commercial Art with a minor in English.  It was at the University that she met the love of her life, Lowry (John) G. Kinzer and they were married in January of 1951. She devoted most of her life in loving and serving her close knit family.  She loved baking, especially desserts and putting up her cherry preserves which for many years won the blue ribbon at the NM State Fair. She was a voracious reader and also had interests in gardening, fine arts and music, bible study, bridge and all things social!  She was a classy lady who loved to share life's joys and adventures with all she came in contact with.

Private family interment has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park. We would love friends to join us for a Memorial Service on Saturday, September 2, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Road NE, with a reception following.  Eleanor was a supporter of children's cancer research and Christian education.  Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Noah Webster College, 12820 Indian School Road NE, ABQ, 87112.
