Eleanor Grace (Davis) Hughes

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor Grace Hughes on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM, at the age of 102.

Eleanor was born in Pawnee, OK, on September 2, 1916, to her parents, Peter Davis and Edna Kitty Becraft. She had two sisters, Ivory Davis Goodrich, Pauline Davis Minnick; and two brothers, Estel Davis and Ivan Davis.

As young women, Eleanor met and married her love, Carl Hughes, whom she moved to Wyoming with and lived most of her married life.  They retired to New Mexico when he was 65 and she was 63.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Pomroy; son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Pomroy; two grandchildren, Troy and Andy Pomroy.  In addition, Eleanor had five loving great- grandchildren, Aleja Allen, Mackenzie Pomroy, Lance Pomroy, Amee Pomroy and Miranda Pomroy.

Eleanor was an artist. She worked in oils, watercolor, and pastels, which were often generously displayed at her home and that of her family and friends.  A frequenter of art festivals, Eleanor would sell her works at shows in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area exhibits.

A kind woman with a gentle smile.  Eleanor will be missed.  Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 28, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM  87107.
