Age 90, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 30 years, died on Friday, June 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William U. (Bill) Geer. Also preceding her in death were sister, Shirley Hall; and parents, Joe and Pearl Welborn, all of Laurel, MS. Elaine and Bill were long-time residents of Los Alamos, NM, prior to relocating in Albuquerque. It was in Los Alamos they raised their two children: Rod Geer (Maria) of Albuquerque and Debby Negri (Armando) of South San Francisco, CA. Other survivors are grandchildren, Steven and Amy Caron, of Twentynine Palms, CA and Long Beach, CA, respectively, Anna Geer (David Gray), of Ventura, CA, and Leah Geer, of Austin, TX. Elaine leaves one great-grandchild, Felix Gray, of Ventura, CA. During her years in Los Alamos, Elaine was a fan of myriad activities. She was a talented ice skater and member of a bowling league. She loved to cook everything from fried okra to green chile chicken enchiladas. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Los Alamos, and then of Albuquerque's Hoffmantown Church. A Life Celebration and reception service will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 1:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
