E. Judy Casaus

November 22, 1952 — January 31, 2021

CASAUS – E. Judy Casaus loving, caring, devoted and strong wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, educator, and friend passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Judy was born in Albuquerque, NM and grew up in the South Valley to Antonio & Griselda “Gonzales” Toledo on Saturday, November 22, 1952. Judy was a person of great faith, which she received from her parents, a devout catholic. She Loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and believed in the power of prayer. She was very active in her church Our Lady of Sorrow, always the teacher and wanting to teach her faith she taught catechism for many years and had been her granddaughter Trinity’s catechism teacher since kindergarten and was looking forward to seeing her make her First Holy Communion in May and she was also a member, she was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Daughters of America, and helped with God Little Angels store.
Judy graduated from Rio Grande High School and then from UNM with her master’s degree in Education. At UNM she met her husband Celestino “Tino” Casaus. After graduation she began her teaching career at Algodones Elementary School. She later advanced to Principal, she then moved to Bernalillo Elementary School as Vice Principal and then Principal. She loved teaching and helping students learn and being able to help them succussed. She was always willing to help them in any way she could. After she got ill, she took a medical retirement in 1991, but with the power of prayer by her family, friends, and community her health improved, and she was able to return to Algodones Elementary School as the Principal where she retired after 24 years in education.
Judy loved her family; she loved her children and was so happy when her three granddaughters came into her life. They were her pride and joy of her life, and she would spoil them with a big smile on her face. They improved her health with their love. She loved and prayed for her family every day and was always there to support them.
Judy loved to stay busy she was an Avon Rep and was in a bowling league and a member of the Bernalillo Women’s Club for years. She participated in the Senior Olympic and was active in Donate for Life, with herself being a transplant recipient of a kidney donated by her husband.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Clara Sedillo; nephew, Tony Toledo; and mother-in-law, Maria Casaus.  She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Tino Casaus; her children, Gabriel Casaus and Andrea Casaus and partner Anthony Ramirez; granddaughters, Jonauh Casaus, Trinity and Monica Ramirez; her siblings, Alex Toledo, Bobby Toledo and wife Olga, Miguel Toledo and wife Vicentita, Elena Gutierrez and partner Mike; sister-in-law, Cissy Casaus; brother-in-law, Norman Sedillo; and numerous nephews, nieces, colleagues and friends.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Toledo, David Toledo, Tiffany Wittkofsky, Charity Williams, Sam Sena and Anthony Ramirez.
