Eileen Mead

Eileen Elizabeth (Lujan) Mead, 95, lifelong resident of NM, died peacefully at her home in Corrales on 12/4/2023, following a long illness. Eileen was born on 2/12/1928 in Santa Fe, NM. She attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO where she studied music. Following college, she enjoyed music as an opera singer and teacher of music and dance. Eileen loved volunteering at Annunciation church and was an active member of the Holy Seplechre. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing bridge and waterskiing at the local lakes. She also loved and cared for her many dogs.

She is survived by her sons Robert Gene Mead and Dean Grey Mead; daughter, Melanie Maria Mead; grand children Morgan Burke and Brier Mead; and great grand children Alex Burke and James Burke. She also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and caregivers, especially her angel Jacqueline Baca.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Grey Mead; parents former NM Supreme Court Judge Eugene David Lujan and Rita Pino Lujan; brother Llewellyn Eugene (Buddy) Lujan and wife Sonja Lee Lujan; and in-laws William T. Mead and Blanche Collier Mead.

A Holy mass will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church on 12/14/2023 at 8:30am followed by an internment at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Carmelites Monastery in Santa Fe, 49 Mount Carmel Road 87505.
