Edwigen Castillo

d. March 20, 2021

Edwigen Castillo (Alderete) was born on May 21, 1961 to Edwigen Blea and Pedro Alderete in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Duvie, as she was called by many, was beautiful, kind spirited, and a loving woman. family was the most important thing to her and she loved them with every fiber in her being. She was a devout catholic, who believed that you should do all the good you can, for as long as you can, never wavering from her devotion. To the contrary, she found strength, comfort, guidance and wisdom too never hold hate or animosity in her heart but rather expel forth from her being kindness, patience, temperance, empathy and humility.

Although her failing health subjected her to several chronic medical issues, she continued with that mentality until her final days on earth. She was a strong woman who lived a mere 59 years on this earth, who endured the loss of a young child Duvie who was a woman who had a personality larger than life. She was a woman who enjoyed all that life had to offer from dancing the chubby Checker doing the twist, to teaching not just her family but perfect strangers her love for arts and crafts if they so choose. She believed that the Lord would never give you more then you bare.

Duvie will be missed by her husband Victor Castillo, whom she married on May 22, 1976 spending from that day to her last with him, constructing a wonderful family of seven children: Héctor Manuel Alderete, Rebecca Alderete, Victoria Lucia Luna, María Luisa Castillo, Maria de la luz Castillo (predeceased), Alvaro Castillo and Jesus Alfredo Alderete. Alongside with all her grandchildren, Ericka, Abraham, Chastity, Damien, Victor II, Jose Anthony, Bernadette, Manuel Jr, Skye, Beatrice, Alvaro Jr, Ramon, Adalinda and Alan. She also had the greatest honor of knowing her eight great-grandchildren who all loved her as much as she loved them.
