Edward C. Sandoval

January 28, 1947 — March 3, 2021

Former State Legislator Edward C. Sandoval passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. His wife of 50 years Loretta and his daughter Christina were holding his hands as he peacefully left earth to go be with the Lord.

His legacy as a civil servant will live on for years to come. Through projects he championed like the Rio Grande Valley State Park, North Valley Little League and North Valley Senior Center. His greatest accomplishments are in laws he sponsored to improve the lives of the poor, children and the mentally ill.

Ed never met a stranger and was friendly and welcoming to all. His loud voice and big personality will not easily be forgotten. He especially enjoyed making new friends, while celebrating his beloved states local music culture on Saturday morning DJing at KANW. Next time you hear a ranchera sing off key in his memory as he is up in heaven singing his heart out.

He will be deeply missed by many, but especially his loving family, wife Loretta "his angel, saint and trooper", their daughter Christina, grandsons Isiah, Moses and William and his sister Olga Santillanes. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Leonardo and Eloisa "Lola" Sandoval and Fermino "Choke" Tafoya. Also by his biological parents Eloy Garcia and Ciprianna Montoya, siblings Janice and Marylou Montoya. He is survived by his siblings Bridgette, Gloria, Sandra, Ronnie, Debbie and Mark Garcia and Michael and Eva Montoya and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He joins many close friends and family in heaven especially his brother through friendship Vincent Griego.

Services will follow at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions. The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and prayers they have received during this difficult time.
