Ed Romero, age 78, dedicated husband, father and grandpa passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side early Saturday morning January 26th. Ed was born in Antonito, CO and joined the Marine Corps after high school graduation. He moved to Albuquerque, went to the University and then earned his MBA from Highlands. He worked as an Accountant and retired from Kirtland Air Force Base. He then worked with Save the Children for 10 years. In his spare time, his interest was in horses. He started with a few in the North Valley, then moved to the South Valley to accommodate his growing herd. He supported his daughters on the National Arabian Horse Show circuit, then started training and galloping his own race horses at the local tracks. In more recent years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to attend his grandchildren’s horse shows, football and baseball games around the country. He would also travel abroad to visit his daughter and youngest granddaughter. Ed also was blessed to travel quite a bit with his Sister and Brother-in-law, and the foursome would play a mean game of cards every Friday night. Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Liz; his daughters, Ursula and Celeste; and his grandchildren, Melina, Mason and Isabella. He is also survived by his sisters, Loretta and Barbara; and his brother, Joe. Ed will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews whom he teased endlessly at family gatherings. He was always the trouble maker and jokester in the group! A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH -University. His service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019, 9:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel New Harvest, 701 Main Street in Los Lunas. Reception to follow from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m at Calvary Chapel. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2:30 PM.
