Edward Matthew Pennington

Edward Matthew Pennington passed after his brief, brave, and fierce struggle with Renal Medullary Carcinoma on March 19th, 2016. He is survived by wife, Marie Liu Pennington; mother, Marlene Kravitz; father, Edward Justin Pennington; step- father, Alan Kravitz; siblings, Jennifer and John McMurrough, Luisa, Justine, Jennifer, and Aaron Pennington; grandparents, Bernice Costales and Edward Pennington; married family father, Tony; mother, Nancy; sister, Helen; nephews, Dylan, Evan Liu; and grandmother, Kyoko Ditrick and James Croft. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and his cats. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sachi Pennington and William Costales. Matthew graduated from UNM with a BFA in 2004. He will be remembered for his passions for art, running, and poetry. No one will be able to forget his devotion to comics as an art form, his passion for storytelling, or his encyclopedic knowledge of and deep passion for music. Matthew will be forever missed by his family and his group of friends, whom he considered his second family. A group of lifelong friends he cultivated with kindness, tenderness and understanding that continually drew people in and bound them together. He was a magnet for good people. Services will be held on Saturday, March 26th, 1:00p.m. at El Buen Samaritano Unitied Methodist Church, 700 Granite Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A reception will follow in the social hall.
