Edward Harley, 92, died at home on December 18, 2014. Born in January, 1922, in Flagstaff, AZ, Ed has lived in Albuquerque for the last 86 years. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and received a BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNM. He was an Eagle Scout and troop master. He entered the Navy in 1942, retiring at the rank of Commander in 1982. A scholar and a leader, he worked at Sandia National Labs for 41 years. He was an avid golfer and skier and enjoyed triathlons and marathons in his later years. He was an active member of The Albuquerque Pigeon Racing Club and raised pigeons for more than 50 years. His first wife, Shirley Harley, predeceased him in 1981. He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Svetlana, and loving children, Matthew Harley and Megan Gaus. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. He will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
