Edward Raouf Haddad, age 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Friday, July 31, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dr. Balquis Rassam-Haddad; children, Dr. Reem Mariam Haddad and Dr. Raid Haddad; four grandchildren, Yousif and Sarah Aboudi, and Iman and Daniel Haddad; brothers, Naji and Jawdat Haddad; sister, Basima Haddad; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Raouf Haddad and Fadhila Shaya; and his brothers, Dr. Jamil and Antwan Haddad. He was born in 1926 in Mosul, Nineveh, Iraq. Edward studied under the American Jesuit Fathers at Baghdad College and received a Bachelor in Civil Engineering. He was a resident of Kuwait for 27 years where he was a Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Electricity and Water. Edward received two honorary medals from Blessed Pope Paul VI for his charitable work and outstanding service to the Church. He served the Catholic Church in various capacities including as head of the Parish Council of the Catholic Church in Kuwait. He migrated to the United States in 1990 and was naturalized in 1993. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Arbitration Association, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, National Society of Professional Engineers, Elks Club, Inventors Club, Scientists Club, Who's Who in America, Help for the Homeless, Inc., Who's Who in the World, Men of Achievement at Cambridge, UK and was Vice-President of the Parents Association at the University of New Mexico. He also served as a Chancellor of the Knights of Columbus Council 10697. Edward was a long time member of Serra International and 100 Club where he served in many officer positions including President. In addition, he was Knight Grand Commander in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Rosary will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, 6:30 p.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette with His Excellency Archbishop Emeritus Michael J. Sheehan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Edward's name to Catholic Near East Welfare Association, .
