Edward "Eddie" Gonzales, age 83, our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend to all passed away peacefully in his sleep February 21, 2016 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Gonzales; and siblings, Julian Gonzales, Toni Montano and Anna Linthicum. He is survived by his siblings, Nestor Castillo, Desi (Fred) Gonzales and Patricia Burlingame; his children, Cynthia Hill, James Simpson, Theresa Bourguet and husband, Alfred, Laura Ferrier and husband, Jon, Audree Hurtado and husband, David and Elena Gonzales and partner, Jo Brewer. He loved his grandchildren, Ron Hill and wife, Jennifer, Joby Saunders and husband, Andy, Bailee Torres, Olivia Ferrier, Luke and Desi Hurtado and Kellam Carino; along with his great-grandchildren, Ariana and Celina Hill and Sophia Saunders.
Eddie was born December 10, 1932 in Logan, NM, graduated from Dalhart High School in Dalhart, TX and served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. He married Betty Lou, raised a beautiful family and retired after 40 years of service at Sandia National Laboratories.
He will always be remembered as a loving soul that was always ready with a corny joke and as a loyal Lobo supporter who began his decades of Lobo dedication watching men's basketball games in Johnson Gym at the University of New Mexico. He attended every home game until his decline in health no longer allowed. He will be greatly missed by all.
The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 24, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T.
