Edward Andrew "Eddie" Gallegos

March 20, 1948 — September 29, 2015

Edward Andrew Gallegos left this world on September 29, 2015. He was born March 20, 1948 in Villanueva, NM. He was the fourth child, second son of John and Josephine Gallegos, whom he has now joined in heaven. In 1955, the family moved back to Albuquerque, NM, where Eddie grew up. He attended Regina Coeli Catholic School, later known as Queen of Heaven. He attended Sandia High School his sophomore year and then his junior year started at the "brand-new" Del Norte High School, where he graduated in the first graduating class of 1966. Eddie loved basketball and was a star player on the Del Norte Knights team. After graduation he joined the service. He was in the Army for two years and returned home to start college. He also started working as a salesman for the family business, Appliance City and Furniture, and worked there for over 30 years. He continued his pursuit of basketball, playing and managing an AAU team and winning many tournaments and trophies. His love of sports continued throughout his life. Eddie is survived by his two sons; Michael Robert Gallegos, 30, and his fiancAC.e Ashley Blevins and Johnathon Brooks Gallegos, 27; his siblings, Violet Tabet, Maxine Gallegos, Richard (Dick) Gallegos, and Anna Gallegos Miller; brother-in-law, Jim Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at the home of Jim and Anna Miller. The family encourages you to share some thoughts about Eddie on this website to share with his sons and extended family. Thank you so much for all of your love, support and prayers during this difficult time. "Ultimately, we have just one moral duty; to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves... and to reflect it towards others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will be in our troubled world." - Etty Hillesum.
