Edward Coberly, 92, much loved husband and father, passed away after a long illness on November 24, 2015, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born to Edward and Virginia Coberly on December 13, 1922 in Birmingham, AL. He is survived by his son, Robert Coberly of Albuquerque, and stepson, James Melvin Robinson of Denver.
Edward served in the Army Air Force in World War II, as a physical training instructor. He had a lifelong interest in physical fitness, and often played handball at our downtown YMCA into his eighties. He had a long career in civic service in both the city and Federal governments. He had marked sixty years of happy marriage to Doris Coberly before she passed away in 2013. He cared deeply about people, and made friends wherever he went, even in his last days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 30, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 2100 4th Avenue North, in Birmingham.
