Edward "Ed" Acree

January 18, 1937 — September 26, 2024

Edward "Ed" Acree, age 87, Remembered for His Service, Love of Family, and Adventurous Spirit passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Elwood and Sadie Acree; his brothers, Elwood and James Acree; and his beloved wife, Nancy Acree. He leaves behind his cherished children, Edward (wife, Karen) and Terri (husband, Mike), and his adored grandchildren, Sara and Eddie. Ed is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Ed was proud to be the first graduate of Valley High School. He said it was his claim to fame! A proud veteran, Ed honorably served, in the Navy, aboard the USS Essex and treasured the many reunions he attended with his shipmates over the years. He retired from Public Service Company, of NM. His life was rich with diverse interests, including a passion for basketball, tennis, and baseball, as well as a love for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Ed also had a special fondness for visiting casinos, where he delighted in sharing time with family and friends or meeting up with old acquaintances.

In honoring his wishes, Ed was cremated and will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org, a cause close to Ed's heart.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of service, joy, and adventure will live on.
