Edna C. McGuffin

Edna Culpepper McGuffin -Thompson (100-year-old) resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed comfortably in her sleep and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Edna was born in Grady, NM on Friday, May 17, 1918. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University, where she became a teacher for over 40 years. It was there at college that she met her 1st husband "Mac" and became a pastor's wife. Her life's work was bringing others to know Jesus. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, bowling, line dancing and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 10 of her siblings; her 1st husband, Rev. Doctor V. Elmer McGuffin and her son, John T. McGuffin.

She is survived by her husband, Ben J. Thompson; daughter, Jene Grantham and son-in-law Ron Grantham; brother, Noel Culpepper; grandson, Michael McGuffin; granddaughter, Cathie Offret and grandson-in-law, Dustin Offret; granddaughter, Markie Oden; grandson, Jay Oden and great-grand-daughter, Avery Offret.

Edna was truly a wonderful soul who touched many lives around her. Anyone who knew her adored her instantly and she will be greatly missed. We are grateful the Lord gave us 100 years with this amazing woman and our hearts are full knowing she is with the Lord and her beloved 1st husband and son.

A Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2019, 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow, 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church 3906 19th Ave SE. With a Graveside Service to follow, 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her local church First Baptist Church Rio Rancho, NM.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Heritage Hospice, Harmony House, French Funerals, and Pastor Si Budagher along with the entire First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho family for their amazing and loving care of Edna during her life and after.
