Edith (Sims) Marianes

Edith Leona Marianes, age 92, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died October 18, 2021. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Kurpakus, age 97, of Temple City, California and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marianes was preceded in death by her husband George C. Marianes. She was a supporter of the Nature Conservancy and Salvation Army as well as many other charitable organizations. Mrs. Marianes was born on September 13, 1929 to Leonard and Ina Sims in Selma, California. She married George Marianes in October 1962.  She and her husband lived in Oakland, California where she worked as an accountant and he was a real estate appraiser. In 1987 they moved to Albuquerque where they lived the rest of their lives enjoying all their travels together, gardening, going to the theater and caring for their home.  Services will be held Monday, December 6th at 10:00 am at French Family Funeral Home at 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.  Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy or The Salvation Army.
