Eberhard "Lou" M.W. Lubitz, 72, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died on 27 November 2015 at 4:51p.m; surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Stolp, Germany to Max and Gerda Anneliese Lubitz.
Lou is survived by his wife Valerie of 32 years and mother-in-law Mary Jane Bunce, sons Richard, Albert (Kathy) and Max (Andrea) and sister Monica (Udo) Baumgaertner, 9 grandchildren: Seth, Ian, Aaron, Marie, Danielle, James, Annabelle, Juliana and Sarah and extended family. Lou was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
Lou retired from the United States Air Force and Federal Civil Service with the Department of Energy. Lou was active in the Catholic Church in a multitude of ways including serving on the Parish Council and helping with Marriage Enrichment Weekends. Wherever there was a need, he helped.
Lou graduated from the University of New Mexico and was working toward a Masters, but had more fun getting a plumbing certificate from CNM and starting a part-time business as EL Handiman.
During his retirement he traveled abroad as well as all over the United States. One of the highlights of his life came when his sister located him in the twilight of his life, and he and Valerie traveled to Germany to reconnect with his past.
He enjoyed watching and playing soccer well into his 60s. Lou was always there to help friends whenever they needed assistance. Lou loved doing handyman and remodeling projects for himself as well as for others. He was always excited about a project, especially if it warranted a new tool to add to his collection.
A special thank you to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque for their loving care and support. Also thank you to French Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.
Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Wednesday at French Funeral Home on Lomas. Funeral Mass for Lou will be at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 3.
