E. Melton

Age 97, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 28, 2012. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ruth Dudek Melton and his parents, Horace Arthur and Sarah Annas Melton. He was the loving father of Jennifer Shelhamer and husband, Don of Soddy-Daisy, TN; David Melton and wife, Myrna of Woodbridge, VA; Pamela White and husband, Jim of Albuquerque, NM; "Granddaddy" to Alison Marroquin and husband, Louis of Highlands Ranch, CO; Heather Klocke and husband, Joshua of Bothell, WA; Kelly Ryan and husband, Jud of Arlington, VA; Ryan Shelhamer of Tempe, AZ; Ruth O'Brien and husband, Jake of Louisville, KY; John Shelhamer of Soddy-Daisy, TN; and Hilary Melton of Albuquerque, NM; "Great Granddaddy" to Riley and Kendall Klocke of Bothell, WA; and loving brother to Queenell Melton York of Graham, TX. Wayne attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK; served our country in the US Army Air Corp and completed electronic engineering courses, along with his wife Ruth, at the University of Oklahoma during WWII. They were subsequently assigned to the electronic engineering laboratory together at Wright Field near Dayton, OH. Wayne moved with his wife, Ruth to Alamogordo in 1954, retiring as an engineer from Holloman AFB in 1977, and then moving to Albuquerque in 1983. Visitation will be on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with funeral services to follow at the same location on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, OK, on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
