Shaw, Kenneth D, passed away suddenly at home on March 17, 2017. He was 65. Ken was born in San Mateo, CA to Frederick and Dorothy Shaw on October 25, 1951 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a proud graduate of UC Berkeley with an BA in Physics. He went on to obtain an MS from the University of Nevada, Reno and a PhD from Tufts University, all in Physics.
Ken moved to Albuquerque in 1990 and spent most of his professional career at the Air Force Research Lab then later in private industry, all as a Research Scientist. Ken married his wife, Anne, whom he met in 1979 as a Berkeley student and she a Mills College student, in 1994. He is survived by her and his son, Alistair, and daughter, Laura.
An enduring passion of Ken's was the accordion: he loved playing European folk music with friends and at the Albuquerque Folk Festival. He was also a great Amateur Radio enthusiast-his favorite spot was his Ham Shack. Ken loved his dogs and a quiet night at home by the fire.
May he rest in peace.
